PRIVACY POLICY

Wired N Wireless ("we", "us", "our") is a trade name of Bay Tech Ltd., a Canadian corporation registered in Manitoba. We respect your privacy and handle personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

When you visit wirednwireless.ca, place an order, rent equipment, sign up for marketing, opt in to SMS messages, or contact us, we may collect:

  • Identity & contact information: name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping address.
  • Order and rental information: items purchased or rented, rental start and return dates, payment method (handled by Shopify Payments / PayPal — full card numbers are never stored by us), and order history.
  • Device & usage information: IP address, browser type, pages visited, referral source, and cookies. This is collected automatically by our store platform (Shopify) for security, fraud prevention, and analytics.
  • Communications: emails, chat messages, and form submissions you send us.
  • SMS consent records: if you opt in to text messages from a web form, checkout, or other channel, we record the phone number, the time and source of the opt-in, the consent language you agreed to, and any subsequent opt-out (STOP) request.

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use your information to:

  • Process orders, rentals, payments, shipping, and returns.
  • Send order confirmations, shipping updates, rental return reminders, and customer service replies — by email and, where you have opted in, by SMS.
  • Send account notifications and customer support responses by SMS to numbers that have opted in.
  • Provide marketing communications by email or SMS only when you have separately opted in (you can unsubscribe from email at any time, and reply STOP to any SMS message to opt out).
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
  • Comply with our legal and tax obligations as a Canadian retailer.
  • Improve our products, store experience, and customer service.

SHARING WITH THIRD PARTIES

We share information only with service providers who help us operate the store, and only to the extent needed:

  • Shopify Inc. — e-commerce platform, hosting, and order data processing.
  • Shopify Payments, Stripe, and PayPal — payment processing.
  • Shipping carriers (Canada Post, Purolator, FedEx, UPS, and similar) — to fulfill your orders.
  • Email service providers used by Shopify for transactional and (where opted in) marketing email.
  • Analytics providers (Shopify Analytics, Google Analytics) — for aggregate traffic and conversion measurement.
  • RingCentral — for the business phone line and SMS delivery to numbers that have opted in.
  • QuickBooks Online — for accounting and tax records.
  • Government authorities — when legally required (court orders, tax authorities, law enforcement).

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

SMS CONSENT — NOT SHARED

SMS consent is not shared with third parties or affiliates. Phone numbers and SMS opt-in information are used solely by Wired N Wireless / Bay Tech Ltd. to communicate directly with you and are not sold, leased, or shared for marketing purposes.

The only third party that ever touches your phone number for SMS purposes is the carrier or messaging platform that physically delivers the message to your handset on our behalf. Those providers act as data processors and are bound by their own carrier and TCR (The Campaign Registry) compliance requirements.

INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Some of our service providers (including Shopify) store and process information on servers located outside Manitoba and outside Canada, including in the United States. By using our store, you understand and consent that your information may be processed in those jurisdictions and may be subject to applicable foreign laws.

COOKIES

Our store uses cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your cart, analyze traffic, and (with your consent) measure marketing performance. You can disable cookies in your browser, but parts of the store may not function correctly. Where required, a cookie consent banner is shown on first visit so you can adjust your preferences.

YOUR RIGHTS

Under PIPEDA you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your personal information, subject to retention obligations described below.
  • Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time (reply STOP to any SMS, or use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email).
  • File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).

DATA RETENTION

We keep order and rental records for as long as required by Canadian tax law (typically six years). Contact information is kept for as long as you remain a customer or until you ask us to delete it. SMS opt-in and opt-out records are retained as long as required to demonstrate consent under carrier and TCR rules, and are deleted on request once those obligations have been met.

CHILDREN

Our store is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Parents and guardians who believe their child has provided us with personal information should contact us so we can delete it.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always posted at wirednwireless.ca/policies/privacy-policy with the effective date shown below.
